Avery was born with bi-lateral clubfeet. At ten days old, she saw a local physician who advised no casting and surgical correction when Avery was six months old. The physician told Avery's family that her clubfeet were too rigid and they would not respond to casting. Avery's mom found out about the Ponseti Method through research on the Internet, and she decided to seek treatment from Dr. Dobbs at the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis. Avery's feet responded very vell, and she only needed three casting sessions and a final tenotomy to obtain full correction. |
