Simon Andres was born with unilateral clubfoot (right foot) and was treated with casting and an AFO until he was almost 6 months old. At that point, the Dr. who was treating him said he would need to have surgery and recommended waiting until he was 7 months old. Therefore, believing there was no other alternative, we started searching the Internet looking for tips and recommendations about the procedure we were sadly sure was about to happen.

Thanks to our miraculous God, we found Dr. Ponseti's web page and called him that Friday morning. Surprisingly, he called us soon after that and we set up and appointment for the next Monday (we lived just 3.5 driving hours away from Iowa).

After looking at his foot Dr. Ponseti said he would need just three more casts and a tenotomy before the last cast.

Everything has gone great. Simon Andres had his tenotomy and is wearing the DBB. Thanks God again, he adjusted extremely well to the bar, no crying, and no fussiness. His foot looks just beautiful.

Before calling Dr. Ponseti, we were a little bit discouraged because we thought our son was too old to have the treatment, but it was Rose's testimony that encouraged us to call. Thanks to Rose's mom.

Simón Andrés nació con su piecito derecho metido hacia adentro. Esta es una anomalía conocida con el nombre de pies equinovaro. Despues de ser tratado casi 6 meses con yeso y una botica plástica llamada AFO, el DR. nos dijo que la única alternativa para corregir su piecitos era la cirujía y que nos recomendaba que esperáramos hasta que cumpliera los 7 meses. Creyendo que no había otra solución, comenzamos a buscar informacion en Internet acerca de la operación.Gracias a nuestro milagroso Dios, encontramos la página del Dr. Ponseti y lo llamamos ese mismo Viernes en la mañana. Para nuestra grata sorpresa el nos devolvió la llamada inmediatamente despues e hicimos una cita para el lunes siguiente (nosotros vivimos a 3 horas y media de Iowa).Despues de examinar su pie, el Dr, Ponseti nos dijo que solo serían necesarios tres yesos mas y hacerle la tenotomy antes del último.Todo ha pasado muy bien. A Simon Andres le hicieron la tenotomy y está usando su barra durante todo el día. Gracias a Dios otra vez, él se ajustó extremadamente bien a ella, no lloro ni se quejó. Su pie esta precioso.Hay un comentario que debo agregar, antes de llamar al Dr. Ponseti nosotros pensamos que Simon Andres ya estaba muy grande para que el tratamiento funcionara, pero fue el testimonio de Rose lo que nos motivo a llamarlo. Gracias a la mamá de Rose.
